Privacy Policy
High Editions, LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”), a Delaware limited liability company with its principal place of business at 131 Continental Dr Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, US, operates under the brand High Editions as an independent digital studio offering web applications, iOS applications, games, and creative tools. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our website and our projects (including CastAway and any other current or future offerings). By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Information we collect
We collect minimal personal data necessary to operate and improve our services. We may collect:
- Contact information — If you email us (e.g. at studio@higheditions.com), we use your email address and the content of your message only to respond. We do not add you to marketing lists unless you explicitly opt in. We may retain correspondence for a reasonable period for business and legal purposes.
- Usage and technical data — Our website and applications may collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and general usage data (e.g. pages visited, features used, errors encountered). Where we use analytics or similar tools, we aim to minimise personally identifiable data and use privacy-conscious configurations. This data helps us operate, secure, and improve the services.
- Device and sensor data — Some projects may rely on device capabilities (e.g. camera, microphone, or motion where you grant permission). Such data is processed locally in your browser or on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless a specific feature clearly indicates otherwise. We do not continuously collect or store sensor data.
2. Projects that process your content locally
Where a project processes your images, video, or camera feed in the browser, that processing is designed to occur on your device unless we clearly state otherwise for a specific feature. We do not store your uploads on our servers for general browsing unless a feature explicitly involves server-side processing (e.g. fetching data from a third-party API as described elsewhere in this policy). Your content does not leave your device except as needed for the feature you use or when you choose to export or share it. We are not responsible for how you or third parties use exported content.
3. CastAway and third-party movie data (TMDB)
The project CastAway uses movie and television information from external sources. In particular, it may use publicly available data and images from The Movie Database (TMDB) (https://www.themoviedb.org/). When you use CastAway, requests may be passed through our systems to TMDB’s API to fetch results. We do not permanently store your search terms or the movie data returned; such data is used only to display results in your current session. TMDB has its own privacy policy and terms; we do not control how TMDB or other third-party sources handle data. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of TMDB or any other third-party data provider.
4. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the Services; respond to your inquiries; analyse usage and fix errors; protect against abuse or illegal activity; and comply with applicable law. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or to build profiles for third-party marketing. We do not use your data for “tracking” as defined by Apple (i.e. linking data collected from our apps with data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or sharing with data brokers). Data we collect is not used for tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies.
5. Data retention and storage
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period. Technical and usage data may be retained in aggregated or anonymised form for analytics and improvement. Data may be stored on servers operated by us or by trusted third-party providers (e.g. hosting or email). By using the Services, you consent to the transfer and storage of your data in such locations.
6. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorised access, hacking, or other security breaches beyond our reasonable control.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies (e.g. local storage) for essential functionality (e.g. preferences or security), and where we use analytics, for performance measurement. We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites for marketing. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.
8. Third parties
We may use third-party services for hosting, analytics, email, or other operations. Those providers process data on our behalf and have their own privacy and security practices. If you access our applications via the App Store, Google Play, or other platforms, their terms and privacy policies also apply. For iOS applications, you can access this Privacy Policy from the App Store product page or from within our apps where we make it available. If you make in-app purchases or pay for our apps through the App Store or another platform, payment is processed by the platform (e.g. Apple); we do not receive or store your payment card or account payment details. The platform’s privacy policy applies to those transactions. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party platforms or linked websites.
9. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at studio@higheditions.com and we will take steps to delete it.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to or restrict processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights or ask questions about our practices, contact us at studio@higheditions.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
11. International transfer
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Services, you consent to such transfer. Where required by law, we will implement appropriate safeguards.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. We may notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the website or through the Services. Your continued use of the services after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the services and contact us if you wish to exercise your rights regarding existing data.
